Hey guys! I teach 1st grade and could really use some ideas for remote learning. I'm mainly looking for something interactive to keep them engaged / busy, and as hands-on as possible. What’s been working for you all? Any ideas for teaching reading and math are welcome ❤️ Thank you!!
For math, I’ve had success using everyday objects for hands-on activities... like having students count or sort buttons, coins, or cereal pieces to practice addition and subtraction. We also do virtual math games using sites like Kahoot, which keeps them pretty engaged :) For reading, I like to use virtual read alouds where my students can follow along, and then we do interactive activities like acting out scenes or identifying sight words in the book. I’ve also used apps like Epic! (highly recommended) for reading where students can choose books at their level, and we discuss them afterward. Keeping things interactive and relatable to their everyday lives seems to work best! Hope this helps 😊
