Good afternoon, my name is Jessica i'm in my 2nd year as a para in the SPED department at my district my role is a little different than most. I work more as a "push-in" with the 5th and 6th grade students. I'm not sure why i received and invite but ill try to assist anyone if i can. I'm also a mom to 5 wonderful children. I spent 10 years in healthcare and decided to go a different route to allow me more time with my children. I have thought about furthering my education to become a teacher. I hope everyone has a great day!

Hello, everyone, and Happy New Year! I am a 20+ year corporate professional embarking on a second career as an elementary teacher. I am in my second year of teaching as a fifth-grade writing teacher. Our fifth grade consists of departmentalized classrooms, so I have five classes daily with 120 students total. We are just returning from Christmas break, and I'm ready to be back, I think.... 😀

Tips for first year teacherTips for first year teacher

·2d ago
Hi everyone, I’m a first year 1st grade teacher, and am about halfway through my first school year... I come from a different background (I majored in psychology and didn’t take education courses in college). Teaching is something I’ve always been passionate about, especially making education more effective for kids who need a different approach... I love working with my students, but honestly, I’m feeling very overwhelmed. Classroom management is a huge challenge, and I’m still trying to figure out lesson planning and how to keep my students excited about learning (especially when we work in groups). I could really use some guidance. First off I guess, does anyone have tips for classroom management and group activities? I’d also love any advice on finding the right balance between teaching all the materials and making learning less overwhelming for my students. Thank you!!
