5th grade vs. 2nd...Barbara Williams

I was offered the opportunity to teach 2nd grade (I need a change).. I've always taught 4th and 5th graders, would you recommend making the switch? What are some of the biggest challenges and positives of teaching younger students? what testing is required for 2nd grade?

nd grade can be a lot of fun, the biggest challenge is that you’re teaching more basic skills, but it’s very rewarding to watch students grow / progress so quickly. I found that the kids are more eager to learn... Testing-wise, they’ll usually have state assessments in reading and math, but it’s not as intense as with older grades.
