The best change I’ve made in my classroom is individualized workstations (!) A few years ago, I had a student with autism who would always become overwhelmed in group settings, and he just couldn't focus... I set up a small workstation just for him, with noise canceling headphones and a visual task strip to help guide him through each step of his assignments. I saw a change almost immediately. His anxiety decreased, he was finally able to complete tasks, and he became more confident working independently. I ended up creating similar workstations for other students with different needs (like a quiet sensory corner for a student who needed movement breaks).
I'm a big believer in personalized approach, it makes me so happy to see positive results!
