Amit, first, I want to assure you that you’re not alone. You’re doing an amazing job by paying attention to how your daughter is feeling....
At seven, children might not always have the words to express what’s going on inside. It could be helpful to gently ask her about her feelings and listen without judgment. Sometimes, children are afraid to share because they think they’ll upset us, so letting her know it’s okay to feel sad or worried can open the door to communication.
You might also try asking specific, open-ended questions like, “Is there something at school that’s been hard for you?” or “What makes you feel happy or excited about your day?” Her answers might give clues to what’s bothering her.... like friendships, schoolwork, or something else entirely...
At home, creating a calm, supportive routine can make her feel secure. Even small changes like reading a favorite book together, doing an activity she loves, or just cuddling on the couch can go a long way.
If her sadness persists, it could be helpful to involve her teacher or school counselor. They often have insight into what’s happening during the school day and can offer additional support. Sending you and your daughter lots of care and encouragement ❤️
Maybe take a few days off school and take her on a fun adventure like a hike, the beach, anything outdoors... try to get her mind off anything stressing her, and talk about things she love, maybe she will open up more and give you a better idea of what's making her feel this way...
Get her teacher involved... or school counselor for support, and consider consulting a child therapist to help address the underlying issues.
