"I’ll never use this in real life”?Amanda Hanono

Every time I teach my son certain math topics (he's in 5th grade) I get the “When am I ever gonna use this?” line... I have my own answers, but I’d love to hear how you all respond. Any fun real-world examples or comebacks that actually get through to them?

try maybe giving them real life exmaples, I mean for something like for fractions, I would ask them how they’d split a pizza with friends ‘fairly.’


You can also try flipping the question on them - ask him when would he use math in real life (store, bank, games)....
