December Homeschooling IdeasMegan Johnson

Hey guys! I’m looking for some fun and creative December activity ideas... My kids are 6 and 4, and we love doing theme-based learning. We’re trying to skip the whole Santa and Christmas magic vibe though this year... Any creative activities you’ve tried in December? We’re down for winter related themes or honestly anything that’s fun and outside the box!

Hi Megan! We’re in a similar boat with younger kids (mine are 7 and 4 so just about the same grade level). Here are a few ideas my kids really enjoyed:

Nature Walk + Crafts: Go on a winter scavenger hunt (look for pinecones, cool sticks, animal tracks) and use what you find for crafts... bird feeders are my favorite.
Arctic Animals: I teach my kids about arctic animal by showing them how they live... we built mini "igloos" with sugar cubes, then saw how the ice melts during the hotter months, great STEM activity :)

We would also often choose a winter book (lots to choose from) then do activities inspired by the story. Very simple and fun! 😊
